Chris Britton

HR Leader & Men’s Health Advocate

Chris Britton is a senior people and HR leader, author and men’s health advocate whose career spans business, policing and professional sport. With two decades of experience in HR and people leadership, he has worked across major organisations in technology, telecommunications and employee experience.

Outside his corporate career, Chris has served for more than a decade as a volunteer Special Constable with Sussex Police and is a professional football referee. He is an advocate for more open conversations around men’s physical and mental health. A charity trustee, husband and father of two, Chris also has a particular interest in how people make decisions under pressure.

Foreign Affairs Specialist & Author

Iain King CBE FRSA is an author, foreign affairs specialist and Director of the Centre for Ethical Foreign Affairs. His career has taken him into conflict and post-conflict environments, where he has worked on governance, stabilisation and international affairs, including serving as a Director of NATO Mission Iraq.

He has also served as the UK’s defence policy and nuclear counsellor at the British Embassy in Washington and as an adjunct scholar at the Modern War Institute at West Point. Iain has written extensively on ethics, war and international affairs, as well as two thrillers. He was appointed CBE in 2013 for services to governance in Libya, Afghanistan and Kosovo, and is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.

Entrepreneur, Café Owner & Small-Business Advocate

Colleen Wong is an entrepreneur, café owner and small-business advocate whose career has spanned government, investment banking, technology and community-focused hospitality. She is the founder of a neighbourhood café in Hampton Wick built around the value of everyday connection and conversation.

Before moving into hospitality, Colleen spent a decade building a technology business focused on helping families stay connected, and in 2022 received Vodafone’s Woman of Innovation Award for the impact of her work. She has also supported Small Business Saturday as a Small Business Hero. A mother of two, Colleen is particularly interested in how simple ideas, local communities and human connection can become catalysts for meaningful change.

Creative Strategist & Cultural Storyteller

Sibusisiwe Thelma Khupe is a senior creative and storyteller working across advertising, music and popular culture. Having previously worked at Wieden+Kennedy and Universal Music, she has built a career spanning creative strategy, brand storytelling and art direction across major global campaigns.

Her earlier work includes founding her own production company and directing music videos recognised by MTV, alongside collaborations with artists including Lewis Capaldi, Bree Runway and Tom Jones. She is also a podcast host, with a particular fascination for the relationship between pop culture, class and Britain, and the cultural histories behind the things people love.

Food Writer, Presenter & Educator

Mallika Basu is a food writer, presenter, educator and adviser whose work explores the connections between food, culture, people and planet.

She writes and presents for Good Food magazine, teaches food-focused courses at the British Library, and brings more than two decades of communications and strategic advisory experience to her work across food, drink and hospitality. Through her writing, broadcasting, teaching and advisory work, Mallika encourages people to look beyond what is on the plate and consider how food can become a practical force for positive change.

Dan Magill is a communications consultant, trainer and writer specialising in storytelling, presentation and clear communication. He is President of Society Speakers in London and has held leadership roles within Toastmasters.

His work as a trainer focuses on helping people communicate ideas with greater confidence, clarity and impact, drawing on years of experience in communications. Alongside his professional work, Dan is a father and an enthusiastic runner, often found exploring the Surrey Hills.

FAQs

What time do doors open, and when should I arrive?

Doors open at 6:30pm, and the main stage programme begins at 7:00pm.

Because this is a live-recorded event, late entry may be restricted during speaker recordings. Please arrive at least 20–30 minutes before showtime to check in and find your seat.

Do I need to print my ticket?

No need to print. We accept digital e-tickets displayed directly on your smartphone (PDF or Apple/Google Wallet). Make sure your screen brightness is turned up at check-in for smooth barcode scanning.

Will food and drinks be provided?

Water and light refreshments will be available for sale in the venue.

Full meals are not provided. Kingston Town Centre has a wide variety of cafes, restaurants, and shops within a 5-minute walk for dinner breaks.

Can I transfer my ticket if I can no longer attend?

While tickets are non-refundable, you may transfer your ticket to another adult (18+) by updating the attendee details via your Ticket Tailor confirmation email up to 48 hours before the event.

Known for her infectious energy and natural ability to connect people, Caitlin brings warmth, humor, and purpose to the stage as our co-host for TEDxKingstonUponThames.
